WHAT IS THE HERITAGE COMMITTEE?
The Heritage Committee is a group of concerned citizens appointed by Township Council under Section 28 of the ONTARIO HERITAGE ACT, R.S.O. 1990, Chapter 0.13, who is working to highlight and to preserve the ARCHITECTURAL HERITAGE OF WEST LINCOLN.
Formed in 1987, the West Lincoln Heritage Committee examines structures to determine their heritage value. The Heritage Committee recommends to Township Council that a By-law be passed. Once the By-law has been passed, it is registered in the local Registry Office for reference. The designated property is also listed in a public register to allow municipal authorities to determine if proposed property changes are permitted within the spirit of the designation.
It is hoped that through this work, WEST LINCOLN'S HERITAGE can be preserved for the appreciation and enjoyment of generations to come
