Statements from Mayor Douglas Joyner

Below you will find public speeches made by the Mayor.  Starting with the Inauguration on December 1st, 2010.

Rev. Eleanor Inauguration Speech - December 1, 2010

Rev Eleanor Clitheroe-Bell Inaugural Speech 12/1/2010

Doug Joyner – Mayor, Smithville

Commitment is the one quality above all others that enables a leader to become successful leaders.

Leadership is like a running head start for the team. Leaders see farther than their teammates.

They see things more quickly than others.

They know what's going to happen and can anticipate it.

As a result, they get the team moving in the right direction ahead of time and for that reason those they lead are in a position to win.

The greater the challenge, the greater the need for the many advantages that leadership provides.

Mayor Joyner Inaugural Speech - December 1, 2010

Mayor Douglas Joyner Inaugural Speech 12/1/2010

Members of Council – Distinguished Guests, Clergy Friends & Family

It is a unique and distinct pleasure to welcome you to the West Lincoln Council Chambers for the 2010 Inaugural Ceremony.

As I stand before you all I am mindful of the history of Smithville since becoming a Corporation in 1970 – and of all the past Mayors who have been through this very ceremony – how similar yet different their goals and aspirations would have been.

I am inspired by the vision of what our community can be during this term of office. A healthy community - One that is balanced with economic growth – Appropriate and affordable recreational facilities - Prosperous agricultural enterprises & Environmental stewardship.

The citizens of West Lincoln have spoken and selected TEAM WEST LINCOLN, better known as the Council & Mayor for the term 2010 to 2014.
