Mayor Douglas Joyner is currently serving his first term as Mayor of West Lincoln and his first term of Regional Council.
Mayor Joyner currently serves on the Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority, Corporate Services Committee, Integrated Community Planning Committee, Public Works Committee, Regional Development Charges Task Force, Niagara Regional Culture Committee, Regional Chair’s Agricultural Task Force, T. Roy Adams Humanitarian Award Committee, and the Employee and Family Assistance Program.
Recently, Mayor Joyner was appointed to Co-Chair of the Niagara Region Culture Committee and is eagerly awaiting the Federal Governments decision for Application for Niagara to be designated as a Cultural Capital of Canada in 2012.
Mayor Joyner now sits as Chair on the newly created Council Chamber Renovations Committee.
And Lastly, Mayor Joyner was thrilled to be nominated to sit on the Niagara 1812 Bicentennial Legacy Council Board of Directors.
He was elected Alderman of Ward 3 in West Lincoln for the 2006-2010 term and served as Chair of Administration, Finance, and Fire Services committees. He served as liaison to Community Care and on the West Lincoln Steering Committee, Community Improvement Project. Councilor Joyner served on the Commercial Industrial Development Board Committee as well serving the businesses of West Lincoln.
His community involvement includes: Newly appointed member to the Employment Help Centre Board of Directors, President of West Lincoln T-Ball from 2000-2012, West Lincoln Minor Hockey coach and trainer for 25 years, past member of the West Lincoln Chamber of Commerce, and a member of St. Martins Parish and St. Lukes Anglican Church.
Mayor Joyner is currently a member on the Ontario Motor Vehicle Industry Council and a member of the West Lincoln Historical/Heritage Committee.
Mayor Joyner enjoys attending the Local municipality’s festivals and cultural events all across the Niagara Region. He is married to Barbara (RN) and they have three Children; Rebecca, Alexander, and Dante.
