Community Sports Organizations
Sport Participation promotes health benefits, such as increased resistance to heart disease, cancer, diabetes, osteoporosis, arthritis, obesity and mental health disorders. Sport participation plays a key role in the development of social and interpersonal skills and contributes to the development of a child's self-confidence and feelings of self-worth.
Quality sport and recreational programs delivered in local communities are extremely effective in enhancing sport participation. Research suggests that individuals and families are more likely to participate in sport and physical activity if they have access to affordable and safe parks, trails, sport and recreation programs and community facilities.
