Smithville, Ontario 2011

To all Possible Parade Participants

The Smithville "Christmas in the Village" Parade Committee would like to invite your business, group or organization to participate in the 20th annual Christmas Parade on Saturday, November 26, 2011. The Parade starts at 2:00 p.m. SHARP from the Community Centre (Arena) and proceeds along Regional Road #20 (old Highway #20) to the Industrial Park Road.  We set up the parade from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m.

The parade route will be ‘closed to all vehicle traffic’ from 1:30 PM until approximately 3:30 PM, so ensure you and your entrants are at the Fairgrounds by 1:00 PM.

The theme this year is "Christmas Characters". Please make arrangements for your float now and remember not to have Santa Claus on the float, as we want him, Mrs. Claus and his helpers to be on the very last float to build up the anticipation for the children.

Please notify me on or before November 18, 2011, if you plan to have a float, so we can reserve your spot. Please tell us something about your float for the commentators announcing each float (25 words or less on the participant information form). Plan to car-pool to the Fairgrounds, as the Arena parking lots get clogged up with cars and entries. The Parade should last approx. one hour and thirty minutes. There will be prizes for the top three non-commercial floats and trophies for the top three commercial floats. There are also prizes for the best three Children’s groups, in costumes reflecting the theme, and the best 3 Religious entries. These can be marching groups or on a float.

Let's see some great imagination and let's all have a fun day.

Come be part of the Parade!!! Please call the undersigned to register.

Yours Truly

Dave Willis  (905) 957-7577

Parade Chairman

PS – If you are a past participant and experienced any problems, please let us know and we will try to ensure that you don’t have the same difficulty.
