Joint Statement from Mayor Cheryl Ganann and 
CAO Bev Hendry on International Women’s Day

For the first time in West Lincoln’s history, there are two women leading the Township. As CAO and Mayor, we are proud of the progress the Township has made towards achieving gender parity on Council, in Senior Management, and in many departments.

Today, on International Women’s Day, we seek to not only celebrate the incredible women in West Lincoln, whose achievements have helped shape the community we enjoy today, but to also recognize that there is still much work to be done.

The theme of this year’s International Women’s Day campaign is Embrace Equity. To truly build a diverse, equitable and inclusive society, we must acknowledge that in the race of life, everyone’s starting line looks different. We must commit to taking equitable action that challenges gender stereotypes, discrimination and bias.

We encourage everyone to join us in commemorating this important day by embracing equity and, of course, by taking time to celebrate the amazing women in your life.

At the Township, we are fortunate to have many talented and intelligent women spearheading innovative advancements to help us better serve our residents. To these brilliant colleagues, we send a resounding thank you!
