Update # 41- West Lincoln Response to COVID-19 – Response to High Number of COVID Cases in West Lincoln

West Lincoln, Ont. – May 3, 2021

The number of COVID cases in West Lincoln are at the highest they have been since the beginning of the pandemic.

While the Township, with all its local partners, has done a very good job preparing and responding to COVID-19, this situation stresses the fact that we are still very much being impacted by the pandemic. Collectively, we have to do our best to manage it - at home, at school and at our businesses. We all have a role to play in following the public health practices so that we can move out of the Provincial Lockdown sooner.

Part of that management includes ensuring that the best information we have about local outbreaks and the situation across Ontario is accessed. Residents can keep informed about Niagara COVID-19 statistics and other important information by visiting the Niagara Regions Website

We understand and appreciate that people are tired and frustrated with the new business practices and hygiene measures that have been put in place, but this situation is a reminder that we need to keep at it.

We appreciate residents’ compliance with the Provincial Stay-at-Home orders and the closures, including the Skate Park.

The West Lincoln Community Centre is hosting a Niagara Region Public Health Vaccination Clinic and eligible residents can book COVID vaccine appointments online through the Provincial Booking System or by calling 1-833-943-3900. Also a reminder that a stand-by list is available for those eligible to register and can do so by accessing the Niagara Region’s COVID-19 Vaccine Standby List

While we are all in this pandemic together, we are all experiencing the effects of it differently. It is essential that despite the frustrations we’re experiencing, that we choose to be kind to ourselves, and kind to each other reminding ourselves and one another that we are all human and we are doing our absolute best with the challenging circumstances.

Councillor Ganann stated, “Thank you West Lincoln for all that you are doing - staying home as much as possible, wearing a mask and keeping a safe distance from others if you need to go out, washing your hands well and getting vaccinated when it is your turn, all in the effort to keep yourself, your loved ones, your friends and your neighbours safe and healthy.”
