Update #7 - West Lincoln Response to COVID-19

For Immediate Release: March 27, 2020

Effective immediately, the Township is closing all park equipment and amenities to the public. Green spaces and trails remain open. These steps are being taken to help reduce the risk of potential transmission of COVID-19 and are consistent with direction to residents to practice physical and social distancing and avoid gathering in public settings. Signs will be installed at our parks and on playground equipment.

The following are closed:

  • Playground structures
  • Gazebos and pavilions
  • Tennis courts
  • Or any other item that is high touch or encourages the gathering of people

Open green spaces in the parks and trails will be available for public use.

If residents choose to use the open park space:

  • Use at your own risk, following COVID 19 hygiene practices
  • Stay 6 feet (2 metres) away from others
  • Do not come to park if you’re sick

Mayor Dave Bylsma stated,

“We are closing park equipment and amenities as a precaution and to protect our residents. The playgrounds are a gathering point and a lot of kids aren’t practicing social distancing. We don’t have the staff capacity to come around and wipe all the surfaces. Please stay home as much as possible. We are all in this together and I thank the public for their patience and understanding.”
