West Lincoln Celebrates National Tree Day with Online Contest and Tree Sale

For Immediate Release: September 21, 2022

The Township of West Lincoln is inviting the public to celebrate National Tree Day with a fun new contest that kicks off Wednesday, September 21, 2022, and runs until Friday, October 7, 2022. The Township will also be holding a Tree Sale, marrying its National Tree Day celebration with its Year of the Garden event series.

National Tree Day is celebrated across Canada on the Wednesday of National Forest Week, which is observed annually during the last full week of September. Since its inaugural celebration in 2011, National Tree Day has helped to recognize the many benefits that trees provide — clean air, cooler cities, wildlife habitat and connection with nature.

West Lincoln National Tree Day Contest

Hosted on the GooseChase app, the Township’s National Tree Day Contest invites individuals and families to earn points by completing special missions geared at showing appreciation for West Lincoln’s trees.

Missions include planting a tree, taking care of a tree, cleaning a green space, meeting your neighbourhood trees, practicing forest therapy, celebrating among trees, drawing inspiration from trees, and hugging a tree.

Participants who accumulate the most points by the end of the challenge will be entered into a draw to win an amazing prize donated by Premier Equipment, Ltd. Smithville. Join the contest by downloading the GooseChase app on your smartphone and searching Game Code EPE8BG to get started.

West Lincoln’s National Tree Day contest was made possible thanks to Niagara Economic Development.
