Family caregiving on topic at West Lincoln seniors’ fair
West Lincoln is pleased to be welcoming Dr. Larissa Zwar, Assistant Professor & Canada Research Chair, Lifespan Research Institute, Brock University, to the upcoming Seniors’ Active Living and Information Fair on Wednesday, September 16.
Dr. Zwar’s research focuses on family/informal caregiving for older adults with care needs in different cultural contexts. In her projects, she explores the psychosocial risk and resilience factors, as well as the consequences for health and well-being of socio-demographically diverse groups of informal caregivers and care recipients.
Dr. Zwar will give a special presentation called Two Lenses on Informal (Family) Caregiving.
“I will focus on caregiving for older family members with chronic illnesses from a psychological perspective,” says Dr. Zwar. “I will share some findings from our research on caregiving for older adults, the impact of family caregiving and some guiding questions and conversation starters for the audience to start talking about care.”
“We’re pleased to have Dr. Zwar join us to help open up conversations about the realities of caregiving, the importance of supporting caregivers and the resources that can help families navigate their caregiving journeys,” says John Ganann, Age Friendly Advisory Committee Co-Chair.
The Seniors’ Active Living and Information Fair will take over the West Lincoln Community Centre on Wednesday, September 16, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Find full event details on the Age Friendly webpage.
