Open air burning prohibited during air quality advisories

West Lincoln Fire Chief Hofsink is reminding the public that open air burning is always prohibited during air quality advisories.

This restriction is outlined within the Township’s Open Air Fire By-law and is in place to protect your health, your neighbours and our community. Any person found in contravention of the burn ban will be liable for all applicable fines, including cost recovery fees and charges for Fire Services.

The Township and West Lincoln Fire & Emergency Services thank you for doing your part.

Niagara is under an Orange Warning for air quality. Air quality is expected to deteriorate later today as smoke from wildfires in northwestern Ontario moves into the area. Poor air quality may persist into Friday.

During heavy smoke conditions, everyone’s health is at risk regardless of their age or health status. Learn more about wildfire smoke, air quality and your health. Follow all weather alerts from Environment Canada.
