West Lincoln Age Friendly awarded $2,500 for seniors’ fair
The Township of West Lincoln’s Age Friendly Advisory Committee is delighted to announce that it has received a $2,500 grant through the Seniors Active Fair Funding Program.
The funding will support the Seniors’ Active Living and Information Fair, taking place at the West Lincoln Community Centre on Wednesday, September 16, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The free event will connect older adults, families and caregivers with information, programs and services designed to support healthy, active and engaged living.
The day will begin with greetings from Niagara West MPP Sam Oosterhoff, followed by a full lineup of activities and opportunities to connect. Attendees can enjoy a special guest speaker, active sessions and demonstrations, a refreshment lounge and dozens of storefront booths featuring local organizations and resources for older adults.
“We’re excited to create an event that brings together the people, programs and services that can make a real difference in the lives of older adults,” says Brianne Parsons, Acting Coordinator of Recreation Services. “Whether someone is looking for opportunities to stay active, learn something new, connect with others or find helpful community resources, there will be something for everyone.”
“An age-friendly community is one where older adults feel connected, supported and empowered to participate fully in community life,” says John Ganann, West Lincoln Age Friendly Advisory Committee Co-chair. “This fair gives residents a chance to discover what’s available right here in West Lincoln and beyond, while celebrating the many contributions older adults make to our community.”
The Township of West Lincoln and its Age Friendly Advisory Committee acknowledge and thank the Government of Ontario for the funding provided to the Older Adult Centres’ Association of Ontario for the implementation of the Seniors Active Living Fair project.
Everyone is welcome to attend the Seniors’ Active Living and Information Fair. Admission is free and no registration is required. Visit the Age Friendly webpage to follow event details as they are updated.
