Mayor Ganann's Holiday Community Challenge

Help to stock the shelves of the West Lincoln Community Care Food Bank

Food Bank Manager with Mayor at West Lincoln Community Centre Food Bank

Mayor Ganann is proud to partner with West Lincoln Community Care to help stock the food bank shelves.

The Food Bank experiences great demand during the Holiday season, requiring staggering amounts of food to assist vulnerable individuals and families across West Lincoln.

Due to economic uncertainties, donations have decreased significantly and West Lincoln Community Care needs your help.

Food drives and fundraisers are crucial to stocking the shelves and every donation, any size, helps. Team efforts yield the best results and give participants the opportunity to make a difference.

The challenge

West Lincoln businesses, schools, organizations and community groups are challenged to collect food and/or funds to help stock the shelves of the West Lincoln Community Care food bank.

Challenge dates: November 1 - 30, 2026

Participants can collect anytime during the month of November. The challenge is a great team building event, giving participants the opportunity to give back to their community and assist the Food Bank for the busy holiday season.

To make food and monetary donations comparable, every $3.71 raised will be counted as the equivalent of 1 lb of food, based on the Food Banks Canada value of food.

For example, if an organization collects 500 lbs of food and raises $500, the $500 is equivalent to approximately 135 lbs of food. Their combined challenge total would therefore be 635 lbs. This allows organizations collecting food, funds, or a combination of both, to participate on the same leaderboard.

All donations must be received by November 30. Call 905-957-5882 ext. 28 to arrange pick-up or delivery. Campaign results will be anounced by December 3. West Lincoln Community Care will follow-up with all participants.

How to join

Complete a registration form and go!

Promote the challenge everywhere: on your communication channels (using #MayorFoodChallenge), add it to your email signature block, hang posters, etc.

Get creative, hold a food drive, collect an item a day, have themed weeks, collect funds for dress down days. Collect food and/or funds at any point throughout the month of November.

Organizations do not need to collect donations for the entire month (but you can!) to participate. Even a food drive held during the final week of November counts toward your total and helps stock the food bank shelves.
