Plan ahead for Canada Day in West Lincoln: Free shuttle service available

The Township of West Lincoln is reminding residents and visitors to take advantage of the free shuttle service to and from its annual Canada Day celebration.

With thousands of people expected to attend, parking availability on-site will be very limited. Accessible parking spaces will be reserved for those who require them; however, all other attendees are encouraged to leave their vehicles at one of the designated shuttle pick-up locations and ride to the event.

Shuttle pick-up and drop-off locations will be available in Caistor, Gainsborough and Smithville. Buses will continue on a loop, arriving at each stop approximately every 30 to 45 minutes.

• Route 1: Wellandport Community Centre (5042 Regional Road 63) to Village Square (249 St Catharines Street) to Leisureplex Park (2543 South Grimsby Road 6)
• Route 2: Caistor Community Centre aka Abingdon Hall (9184 Regional Road 65) to West Lincoln Community Centre (177 West Street) to Leisureplex Park (2543 South Grimsby Road 6)

The free shuttle service will provide convenient transportation for guests throughout the day and evening. The shuttle will continue operating after the fireworks display until all passengers have been returned to their pick-up location.

Guests are also reminded to arrive early, bring lawn chairs or blankets for evening entertainment and prepare for a full day of community celebration.

West Lincoln’s annual Canada Day celebration takes place from 3 to 10:15 p.m. at the Leisureplex Township Park, located at 2543 South Grimsby Road 6, in Smithville. The event will feature family-friendly activities, market and food vendors, live entertainment, a licensed beverage area and a spectacular fireworks display to cap off the evening.
