Roots & Rhythm raises $2,514, 219 lbs. of food for Community Care

The Township of West Lincoln is pleased to announce that a total of $2,514 plus 219 pounds of food was raised for West Lincoln Community Care through the Roots & Rhythm summer event series.

Of the total donation, $1,285 was raised from the silent auction held at the July 22 Chicken Coop Night  plus another $500 anonymous donation, while the remaining monetary and food donations were collected at the entrance every week.

“We are incredibly grateful to everyone who came out to enjoy Roots & Rhythm and helped make a meaningful difference in our community,” says Mayor Cheryl Ganann. “The generosity shown throughout the summer is a wonderful example of what we can accomplish when our community comes together to support local organizations and neighbours in need.”

“Our summer event series is about bringing people together through music, food and community, and it was wonderful to see that spirit extend to supporting West Lincoln Community Care,” says Cynthia Summers, Director, Community and Protective Services. “We thank everyone who donated, participated in the silent auction and contributed food throughout the summer.”

"The Roots & Rhythm events were a wonderful way to bring the community together. We are thankful that the Township recognizes our support of West Lincoln residents and invited our participation,” says Sharlene Volpatti, Food Bank Manager for West Lincoln Community Care. “Donations this year have decreased, and summer is notoriously a quiet time for donations. The community's generosity and people giving what they can during a time of economic uncertainty was heartwarming and greatly appreciated. If you are struggling, please visit us. We are here to help."

The Township extends its thanks to everyone who contributed a donation to support Community Care, a vital asset for the West Lincoln community.
