West Lincoln raises $1,285 for Community Care through silent auction
The Township of West Lincoln is pleased to announce that $1,285 was raised for West Lincoln Community Care through a special silent auction, held during the July 22 Roots & Rhythm – Chicken Coop Night.
The silent auction featured six original iron roosters that were once displayed throughout the community as part of the former Poultry Fest event. Attendees placed their bids throughout the event for their chance to take home a piece of West Lincoln history. All funds raised will benefit West Lincoln Community Care’s food bank.
“We are so pleased to see these familiar pieces of our history find new homes while also helping support such an important cause in our community,” says Mayor Cheryl Ganann. “Thank you to everyone who came out to Chicken Coop Night, placed a bid and helped make this fundraiser a success. Your generosity will make a meaningful difference for local families who rely on West Lincoln’s sole food bank.”
The silent auction was organized by Township staff as part of the Roots & Rhythm summer event series, which celebrates West Lincoln’s agricultural roots and brings the community together through music, food, line dancing and family friendly activities.
“I am so proud to work in a community that is always willing to support those in need. Our team didn’t just put on a fun and awesome event, they also created an opportunity to back an essential resource for West Lincoln,” says Cynthia Summers, Director, Community and Protective Services. “Thank you to everyone who showed up for this important initiative. We will continue showing up for you with more creative ideas that support important local causes.”
“Having a community partnership with the Township of West Lincon has been vital to our organization, helping us reach and support vulnerable neighbours in our community,” says Sharlene Volpatti, Food Bank Manager for West Lincoln Community Care. “The Township has invited us to be on site weekly at Roots & Rhythm and we will be available to answer questions and accept donations. Thank you to the bidders who supported the iron rooster silent auction, with so many families struggling, your support will put food on our shelves.”
Congratulations to Ken Brunaccioni, Joann Chechalk, Jordan Fois, Chris Freure, Debbi Meester and Lisa Scholman, who are now the proud owner of their own Poultry Fest iron rooster.
