West Lincoln Canada Day celebration to feature ‘Chicken Coop’ licensed beverage area
The Township of West Lincoln is pleased to announce that, for the first time, its annual Canada Day celebration will feature a licensed beverage area where attendees aged 19 and older can purchase alcoholic beverages and enjoy them within a designated event space.
The licensed area, fondly dubbed the “Chicken Coop” and operated by The Mobile Mixer – Mobile Bar Experience, will be clearly designated, monitored by trained staff and event personnel and operated in accordance with all provincial regulations to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all. The addition is intended to enhance the Canada Day event while preserving its welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere.
“Canada Day is one of West Lincoln’s most anticipated community celebrations, bringing together residents and visitors of all ages,” says Mayor Cheryl Ganann. “Introducing a licensed beverage area gives attendees another way to enjoy the festivities while ensuring the event remains safe, inclusive and community focused. We are excited to offer this new experience as part of our ongoing efforts to enhance Township events.”
The licensed area will operate within a controlled outdoor space featuring designated entry and exit points, age verification procedures and responsible beverage service practices. Alcohol purchased within the licensed area must remain within the designated boundaries.
“This enhancement provides greater flexibility in how we deliver community events while maintaining the high standards of safety and oversight residents expect,” says Cynthia Summers, director, Community and Protective Services. “Our goal is to create an enjoyable experience for attendees while ensuring responsible service and compliance with all applicable regulations.”
West Lincoln’s Canada Day celebration will take over the Leisureplex Township Park, at 2543 South Grimsby Road 6, in Smithville, on Wednesday, July 1, with fun activities for the whole family from 3 to 10:15 p.m. Find full Canada Day event details.
