NEWS RELEASE

West Lincoln Lifts Open-Air Burn Ban

For Immediate Release: June 12, 2023

Following the lifting of air quality advisories and a healthy dose of precipitation, Township of West Lincoln Acting Fire Chief Tim Hofsink has lifted the Open-Air Burn Ban effective immediately. All 2023 West Lincoln burn permits are hereby reinstated.

The Township of West Lincoln prohibits open-air burning unless you obtain a burn permit. As always, conditions of open air fire permits must comply with By-law 2021-58, a By-law to prohibit and regulate the setting of open air fires within the Township of West Lincoln.

Burn permits are valid for the calendar year, and expire on December 31 of each year. Apply for your burn permit online.

Quotes:

“Following the termination of the Air Quality Advisories last week, and in light of the substantial rainfall that was received in West Lincoln over the past 24 hours, the fire ban has been lifted. As a reminder, Open Air Burning in West Lincoln does require a valid Burn Permit, which can be obtained on the municipality’s website. It is the property owner’s responsibility to ensure that the correct type of Open Air Burning permit is acquired (Farm/Rural/Urban), and that all conditions of the Open Air permit are observed when burning. Those who burn without a valid permit, or do not observe the conditions of the Open Air Permit may be fined if they are found to be contravening the conditions.”
