
The Township of West Lincoln offers general interest and hobby programs over the Winter break and March break. Courses are held at the West Lincoln Community Centre, at 177 West Street, in Smithville.
Registration will be available online through Active Network (processing fee applies) and in-person at the West Lincoln Community Centre (cash, cheque, debit or credit available).
Wednesday, March 18, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Home Alone Safety for Kids program is designed for children aged 9-12 to prepare them for short periods of time without adult supervision. Focusing on safety and accident prevention, the course covers important topics such as street smarts, "Tricky People" and safe strangers, online safety, kitchen safety, fire safety and basic first aid. Through a combination of digital and traditional teaching techniques, the program offers a fun, engaging way to help children develop valuable life skills and make safer choices when on their own.
Friday, March 20, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Babysitters course teaches teens the essential skills to become safe, dependable, and engaging babysitters. Participants learn how to handle emergencies, understand child behavior, provide age-appropriate activities and basic first aid, including chest compression only CPR. The program emphasizes responsibility, communication, and creating a safe environment for children. By the end, teens gain the confidence and knowledge needed to be trusted caregivers.

Both courses are led by SOS 4 Kids Incorporated.
