West Lincoln Public Library Launches Its MakerSpace

For Immediate Release: February 14, 2023

The West Lincoln Public Library invites the community to make memories with the launch of its new MakerSpace at West Lincoln Public Library, 177 West Street, in Smithville.

On Saturday, February 18, 2023, the official debut of the West Lincoln MakerSpace will feature live demonstrations and hands-on activities throughout the day, showcasing the MakerSpace and all of its new resources. Library staff will present how to make custom embroidery patterns, 3-D printed cookie cutters, and more using vinyl cutters, sewing and embroidery machines, a 3-D printer, and other exciting tools! 11 a.m.: Ultimaker 3D Printer

12 p.m.: Cricut Maker 3 and Cricut Explore Air 2

1 p.m.: MakerSpace Tour

1:30 p.m.: Green screen

2 p.m.: Virtual Reality Oculus Quest 2

3 p.m.: Sewing & embroidery machines

4 p.m.: Button maker & VHS converter

Light refreshments will be available to enjoy during the day for those who work up an appetite being creative!

The celebrations continue on Monday, February 20, 2023 with Family Fun on Maker Monday. The West Lincoln Library will continue its MakerSpace showcase from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Smithville branch, 177 West Street, with even more staff-led demonstrations and guides for the public to join. From software tutorials to in-person projects, Maker Monday invites the public to ask questions and get creative as a family!
