West Lincoln Receives Reconnect Ontario Grant for 13 For 13 Cultural Festival

For Immediate Release: August 4, 2022

The Township is proud to announce it has been awarded a Reconnect Ontario 2022 grant of $7,548, which will be used towards West Lincoln’s upcoming event in the 13 for 13 Cultural Festival.

Funded by the Government of Ontario, the Reconnect Ontario 2022 program supports festivals and events with a tourism economic impact, motivating visitors to rediscover Ontario, reconnecting people with local experiences and generating increased tourism spending.

The 13 For 13 Cultural Festival is a one-of-a-kind initiative that will rotate nightly, from August 7 to 20, during the Niagara 2022 Canada Summer Games. Each event is hosted by one of Niagara’s 13 municipalities, in collaboration with one of Canada’s 13 provinces and territories, and showcases the unique cultural heritage, entertainment, art and culinary experiences of each pairing.

West Lincoln’s event will take place on Monday, August 8, from 3 to 8:30 p.m., outside the West Lincoln Community Centre, at 177 West St., in Smithville. In partnership with the Province of Saskatchewan, the event will include:

  • West Lincoln Farmers’ Market vendors
  • Delicious food from local providers
  • Art display by Against the Grain Outdoors chainsaw carvers
  • Magic show by BenTastic
  • Photo booth by BettyLou Photo Airstream
  • Family and children’s activities by the West Lincoln Public Library
  • Music by Moonlight Co.
  • Music and Storytelling by The North Sound

“The Township is excited for the opportunity to celebrate the Niagara Canada Summer Games and to showcase the great partnership we have built with Saskatchewan. This unique festival is the first of its kind, unlike any other Canada Summer Games initiative, and we are so proud to be a part of it. I’d like to thank the Province, the Niagara Host Society, Saskatchewan and Township Staff for a successful collaboration that is sure to bring great joy to all who join in the fun. We can’t wait to see everyone on Monday!”
