The Township of West Lincoln has applied to the 2025 Commonwell LEAF Grant and is calling on community members to rally behind the project to strengthen the application.

The project aims to upgrade dishwashing stations in the Community Room of the West Lincoln Community Centre and in the Program Room of the West Lincoln Public Library Smithville branch. Public Health has indicated that these spaces cannot operate as inspected kitchens without commercial dishwashers.

These kitchens enhance the community spaces by providing valuable educational and social opportunities along with affordable access to food literacy programs that promote healthy living and community connections. Community groups, private renters and service organizations rely on the facilities for programs, workshops and events. Without these kitchens, vital learning and support have been put on hold.

Recipients of the LEAF Grant are selected based on a variety of factors, including community support demonstrated through the LEAF website and through social media engagement.

Visit West Lincoln’s LEAF Project Page, click the Support this Project button and add a comment, photo or story about what these community kitchens mean to you. Then make sure you engage with the Township and Library social media posts about the project by reacting, commenting and sharing.

Community support for the project is open until November 14, 2025.
