The Township is facilitating specialty courses at the West Lincoln Community Centre over March Break, to empower younger residents with new babysitting skills and confidence to stay home alone.
Wednesday, March 18, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Home Alone Safety for Kids program is designed for children aged 9-12 to prepare them for short periods of time without adult supervision. Focusing on safety and accident prevention, the course covers important topics such as street smarts, "Tricky People" and safe strangers, online safety, kitchen safety, fire safety and basic first aid. Through a combination of digital and traditional teaching techniques, the program offers a fun, engaging way to help children develop valuable life skills and make safer choices when on their own.
Friday, March 20, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Participants learn how to handle emergencies, understand child behavior, provide age-appropriate activities and basic first aid, including chest compression only CPR. The program emphasizes responsibility, communication, and creating a safe environment for children. By the end, teens gain the confidence and knowledge needed to be trusted caregivers.
