Township bringing voting closer to residents through outreach centres

The Township of West Lincoln is reminding residents about the variety of voting options that are available for the 2026 Municipal and School Board Election, helping ensure all eligible voters can participate in a way that is convenient and accessible.

Residents will be able to vote online, at advance polls, through outreach and assistance centres or in person on Election Day. Eligible voters who are unable to attend a poll may also appoint another qualified elector to vote on their behalf.

Internet Voting

Internet voting will open Thursday, October 1, at 9 a.m., and will be available until Tuesday, October 20, at 5 p.m. Eligible voters will be able to securely cast their ballot online from anywhere using a computer, tablet or smartphone.

In-person Advance Polls

Traditional in-person advance voting will take place at the West Lincoln Community Centre, at 177 West Street, in Smithville, on the following dates:

  • Friday, October 16, from 6 to 9 p.m.
  • Saturday, October 17, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Voter Outreach and Assistance Centres

To help address barriers such as limited internet access, travel distance or unfamiliarity with technology, the Township is offering special Voter Outreach and Assistance Centres throughout the community.

These centres are designed to help residents access and navigate the online voting portal. These are not traditional polling stations and will not use paper ballots or tabulators.
