The Township of West Lincoln is delighted to celebrate the many wins that came out of the 2025 International Plowing Match and Rural Expo (IPM), held at the West Niagara Agricultural Centre and Fairgrounds from September 16 to 20.

As the host municipality and one of the event sponsors, the Township was proud to exhibit throughout the event. West Lincoln’s tent featured fire safety education by volunteer firefighters from West Lincoln Fire & Emergency Services, stories and games by library staff from West Lincoln Public Library, along with a promotional video and t-shirt fundraiser by Township staff from across departments.

The Township gave away approximately 800 West Lincoln t-shirts, featuring a chicken riding a tractor. The generous recipients donated a total of $4,201.05 to benefit West Lincoln Community Care.

The Township was also awarded first place in the township/municipality category of the IPM’s beautification competition, for the peaceful new garden space built in front of the West Lincoln Community Centre. The award comes with a $300 prize, which the Township is adding to the total donation to West Lincoln Community Care.

“We are thrilled with our beautification win! The award is a testament to the creativity and dedication of our staff, whose hard work transformed a simple grassy area into a welcoming garden that residents and visitors alike can enjoy. I would also like to extend my congratulations to the Town of Grimsby for its second-place win,” says Mayor Cheryl Ganann. “We had such a positive experience at the IPM. It was a wonderful opportunity for our community to showcase its agricultural roots and rural character on a provincial stage.”

“We are so proud of Township staff for the incredible work they put into supporting the IPM, from planning and logistics to volunteering and fundraising to organizing our own corresponding events,” says Cynthia Summers, Director, Community and Protective Services. “The collaboration and joyfulness demonstrated by our team showcased the West Lincoln spirit perfectly.”

The IPM was organized by the Ontario Plowmen’s Association and the Local Organizing Committee, with support from a wide network of community partners, including the Township of West Lincoln, the Town of Grimsby, the Town of Lincoln, and the Region of Niagara. The event brought thousands of visitors to Niagara to enjoy plowing competitions, demonstrations, education, entertainment and exhibits that highlighted the very best of Ontario’s rural and agricultural heritage.

The Township extends heartfelt congratulations to everyone involved in making this event such a spectacular success.
