The Township of West Lincoln is preparing an Affordable Housing Community Improvement Plan (CIP) in accordance with Section 28 of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990. This initiative will support efforts to expand the range of affordable housing options within the community.

The Township is committed to a transparent and inclusive process. Throughout the study, residents, community groups, not-for-profit organizations, and development stakeholders will be invited to share their perspectives.

Get involved

You’re invited to provide input at a public open house, being held on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, from 5 to 7 p.m., at the West Lincoln Community Centre (177 West Street, Smithville) in the Library Program Room.

The public open house will consist of a presentation and workshop activities to gather your feedback on the proposed CIP programs.

Purpose of the CIP

The Affordable Housing CIP will establish financial and non-financial incentive programs to attract landowners, developers, non-profits, and community organizations to help diversify housing options in the Township and deliver a broader mix of housing types at more affordable price points.

This initiative will identify opportunities to increase new housing supply through the development of targeted incentives and programs that can help remove barriers to the creation of affordable units. The CIP study will explore and recommend the most effective strategies, programs, and tools to achieve the development of more affordable housing options. It will be done in alignment with the Town’s Official Plan, in accordance with provincial legislation.

The final Affordable Housing CIP is anticipated to be presented to Council for adoption in March 2026. Learn more about the Affordable Housing CIP.
