Fire Chief Tim Hofsink has issued a total open-air burn ban for all Township of West Lincoln properties due to extreme heat and dry conditions. Effective immediately, all West Lincoln burn permits are suspended until further notice, and all outdoor fires of any kind are prohibited.

West Lincoln is experiencing ongoing dry conditions and has been under a heat advisory without significant precipitation in the forecast. Under these conditions, it would take substantial rainfall to accumulate, likely over multiple rain events, in order for the Fire Chief to consider lifting the burn ban.

West Lincoln Fire Services will continue to monitor conditions daily and will share updates on social media channels and the Township website as they become available.

The public is reminded that fireworks are always prohibited under a burn ban. Even when no burn ban is in place, fireworks are only ever permitted in West Lincoln on Canada Day, Victoria Day and the two days before and after these holidays.

Any person found in contravention of the burn ban will be liable for all applicable fines, including cost recovery fees and charges for Fire Services, as outlined in the Township’s Open Air Fire By-law.
