The Township of West Lincoln has been recognized by the Province of Ontario as an Age-Friendly Community. The recognition was presented at the Ontario Age-Friendly Community Recognition Ceremony on January 18, acknowledging the Township’s contributions and ongoing commitment toward creating a more accessible, inclusive and supportive community for residents of all ages.
West Lincoln was recognized alongside Grimsby, Lincoln, Pelham, Port Colborne, St. Catharines, Thorold and the Age-Friendly Niagara Council. The event, hosted by the Honourable Raymond Cho, Minister for Seniors and Accessibility, was held in conjunction with the 2026 Rural Ontario Municipalities Association (ROMA) Conference.
“This recognition reflects what we hear time and again from residents – that West Lincoln is a place where people want to stay, contribute and feel supported as they age,” says Mayor Cheryl Ganann. “Becoming an Age-Friendly Community is about thoughtful planning, listening to lived experience and making sure our services, spaces and programs continue to meet the needs of our community.”
The Township of West Lincoln extends its thanks to the Province of Ontario, the Niagara Older Adult Alliance, the Age-Friendly Niagara Council and the dedicated members of the West Lincoln Age Friendly Advisory Committee. This achievement stands as a testament to their advocacy, dedication and unwavering commitment.
