The Township of West Lincoln’s Age Friendly Advisory Committee is inviting the public to attend a free Seniors’ Health Seminar on Friday, June 12, 2026, from 1 to 3 p.m., at the West Lincoln Community Centre.
Two special guest speakers will lend their expertise on topics that support healthy living for older adults.
“This is a valuable opportunity for older adults in our community to access trusted information and take proactive steps toward maintaining their health and independence,” says Councillor Greg Maychak, the Council representative on the West Lincoln Age Friendly Advisory Committee. “The Committee is committed to supporting initiatives that empower seniors to live well, stay informed and remain active members of our community.”
Dr. George Ioannidis, Deputy Director at Geras Centre for Aging Research, will present about gait speed as the new “sixth sense” and a power indicator of health. Learn about a new rapid and reliable tool designed by Geras to measure gait speed.
Lorraine Hulley, Executive Director at Rose Cottage Community Hospice, will present strategies for talking with your doctor and advance care planning.
