West Lincoln is pleased to be welcoming Dr. Anthony Levinson and Dr. Brenda Vrkljan from McMaster University to the upcoming Seniors’ Active Living and Information Fair on September 26. The duo will be the first guest speakers of the event, discussing dementia and dementia risk reduction – considerations for staying mobile and healthy in later life.
Dr. Levinson, Professor, Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences at McMaster University, holds the John R Evans Chair in Health Sciences Education Research and Instructional Development and is an expert in the design, implementation and evaluation of technology-enhanced learning and performance. His work impacts the spectrum of medical education, including health information and apps to improve patient education.
Dr. Vrkljan, Professor and Director of the Integrated Rehabilitation and Humanities program at McMaster University, is a trained Occupational Therapist where her research aims to address the intersection between aging, mobility, and participation. Recognized for her expertise in medical fitness to drive, Dr. Vrkljan’s research is featured on McMaster’s Optimal Aging Portal and has appeared in media outlets, including the New York Times, Zoomer and CAA Magazine.

The Seniors’ Active Living and Information Fair will take over the West Lincoln Community Centre on September 26, from 9:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. This event is being organized and run by the Township’s Age Friendly Advisory Committee. Find full event details on the Age Friendly webpage.
