More than 50 organizations are set to feature as storefronts at West Lincoln’s upcoming Seniors’ Active Living and Information Fair, connecting older adults to relevant resources and supportive services.
“It’s truly inspiring to see the overwhelming support from so many organizations. Their involvement sends a powerful message about the value we place on older adults and the shared commitment across our community to support healthy, active aging,” says Mayor Cheryl Ganann. “These organizations will help create a welcoming space where older adults can learn about the services and programs available to them – from health care and housing supports to recreation and social opportunities.”
The Seniors’ Active Living and Information Fair will take over the West Lincoln Community Centre on September 26, from 9:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. In addition to the impressive array of storefronts, the free event will also include special guest speakers, a light healthy lunch and active sessions and demonstrations.
This event is being organized and run by the Township’s Age Friendly Advisory Committee. Find the full list of participating organizations on the Age Friendly webpage.
“For many older adults, knowing where to turn for help can be a challenge. This fair brings resources directly to them in an accessible, engaging way and strengthens the connections that are so vital to maintaining independence and well-being,” says Councillor Greg Maychak, the Council representative on the Age Friendly Advisory Committee. “I want to thank every group taking part. You are helping make our community more inclusive, more supportive and more age-friendly.”
The Township of West Lincoln and its Age Friendly Advisory Committee acknowledge and thank the Government of Ontario for the funding provided to the Older Adult Centres’ Association of Ontario for the implementation of the 2024 – 2025 Seniors Active Living Fair project.
