West Lincoln partners with NPCA to plant 800 trees of 13 native varieties along Twenty Mile Creek

Township of West Lincoln staff joined Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority (NPCA) staff and volunteers to plant 800 trees along Twenty Mile Creek, in Smithville, on Saturday, October 25, 2025.

Trees planted included 13 native varieties: Basswood (100), Black Willow (50), Bur Oak (50), Eastern White Cedar (50), Freeman’s Maple (50), Meadow Willow (50), Nannyberry (100), Pussy Willow (50), Silver Maple (50), Swamp White Oak (100), Sycamore (50), Winterberry (50) and Yellow Birch (50).

West Lincoln seeks community input on affordable housing

The Township of West Lincoln is developing an Affordable Housing Community Improvement Plan (CIP) and is inviting residents, developers and community partners to share their input on how the Township can encourage more housing options for low- and moderate-income households.

This project will identify local housing needs and explore a range of financial and non-financial tools to encourage the development of affordable and attainable housing in West Lincoln.

Leisureplex closing for the season Nov 1, playground will remain open

Be advised that the Leisureplex sports fields and public washroom, located at 2543 South Grimsby Road 6, in Smithville, will be closing for the season at the end of the month. Gates will be closed on November 1, 2025.

Seasonal closure is necessary in order to prevent damage to sports fields caused by unauthorized vehicle access. Gates at the Leisureplex will reopen in May of 2026. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
