Township social media accounts are monitored between the hours of 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday. We make every effort to respond to questions and concerns as quickly as possible. At times, we may request to take the discussion offline due to reasons such as:
We encourage healthy discussion and interaction on our social media channels and encourage you to post comments, shares, discussion and debate. We ask that everyone treats each other with respect and follow our Social Media Community Guidelines.
We reserve the right to remove posts and comments that do not follow our guidelines. Inappropriate posts and comments can consist of spam, vulgar language, solicitations and other inappropriate content as decided by Township staff.
In the case that an inappropriate post or comment is made, staff will remove the post and, whenever possible, message to the user to let them know that their post or comment violated our guidelines. If the user continues to post inappropriate material, we reserve the right to temporarily or permanently limit or block the user’s access to the corresponding page.

Don't use profane, obscene, foul or inappropriate language. Don't include swear words disguised by deliberate misspelling. This includes the use of emojis. Don't discriminate against or be intolerant of race, culture, appearance, gender, sexual orientation, religion or age, physical or mental disability or any other status. Don't be defamatory, disrespectful or insulting to Township staff, other organizations or other individuals. Don't intentionally incite or engage in politically charged discourse. Political discussion is important, however, the Township's social media channels are intended to be a neutral space. Don't post information or links to inappropriate, offensive or illegal material. Don't post information about illegal activity or encouraging illegal activity. Don't post information promoting self-harm, suicide, violence or criminal activity of any kind. Don't post sexual content or links to sexual content. Don't post your own personal information, such as home address, phone number, whether you are on vacation, etc. Don't post personal information about another participant. Don't insult or harass other participants. Don't intentionally incite annoyance or offense. Don't include anything the Township of West Lincoln considers to be inappropriate. |
We only promote Township events and other events where the Township is a participant, sponsor or partner.
We do not permit members of the public to promote events on our social media pages. An event that is being hosted at a Township facility or park does not mean the Township is a participant.
Information, comments, images and links posted by third parties do not necessarily represent the views of the Township.
We do not automatically like or follow organizations or individuals who like or follow Township social media accounts. Likes, follows, shares and links from the Township to other social media accounts, content and websites do not imply endorsements, sponsorship or partnership by the Township.
We do not capture or record the contact details of parties following Township social media accounts. Any information identified or deemed confidential or private is treated in accordance with Township Values Policy and the corresponding social media channel’s Privacy Policy.
It is not the intent of the Township to collect any personal information when users participate on its social media websites other than what is volunteered to the Township. Comments and messages collected for the public record using social media will be treated like any other form of communication received by the Township, and may be required to be released to law enforcement in the case of an active investigation.
